2021 1.5 Oz PROOF Silver $4 Solomon Islands MINOTAUR Labyrinth of Crete Coin.

DESCRIPTION

This Beautiful 1.5 Oz interactive Silver coin celebrates the story of THESEUS, the Greek hero who killed the Minotaur.

The coin is a real working maze with a moving ball, has a square shape, Proof quality and it is numbered.

It comes in a capsule, with box, along with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The coin depicts the Labyrinth in which the Minotaur was imprisoned and from which it was virtually impossible to escape.

The legend of the Minotaur dates back to Ancient Greece. The daughter of the sun god, Pasiphaë, gave birth to the terrible monster known as The Minotaur. The Minotaur had the head of a bull on the body of a man and was bestowed its name to disgrace her husband, King Minos.

The monster was born as punishment for King Minos’ defiance against Poseidon’s order to sacrifice the snow-white bull he gifted them. So, Poseidon cursed Pasiphaë to fall in love with the bull.

After the Minotaur was born, it was immediately shut away in the labyrinth because it was a disgrace and horrifically bloodthirsty. Every year, seven Athenian youths were sacrificed to the Minotaur.

Eventually, a man named Theseus volunteered to fight it. To help him, his love, Ariadne, daughter of Pasiphaë and Minos, gave him a red ball of yarn.
