The coin features the winged goddess of freedom, which symbolizes liberation from Spanish colonial rule.
The goddess is on the column, while the mountainous landscape is shown in the background (with many details).
The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of Mexico - an eagle holding a snake in its beak.
According to legend, the Aztecs (who lived in Mexico before the 16th century) saw an eagle holding a rattlesnake in its claws and decided to found their capital here.
The inscription surrounding the coat of arms "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" stands for the United States of Mexico.
The coin does not have a denomination, but it is fully-fledged currency in Mexico.
